The President and CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy was on Sunday named The Future Awards Entertainment Entrepreneur the Year 2012.
Don Jazzy won the award ahead of other nominees David Adeleke (HKN), Keke Hammond (Flytime), Tana Adelana (Tana Adelana Productions), Emmanuel Dole Onoja (Delphino Entertainment), Cobhams Asuquo (CAMP) ,Mamah Nwanchukwu (Ape Planet) and Clarence Peters (CAPital Dreams Pictures).
Although conflicting schedules prevented Don jazzy from appearing at the award ceremony in Port Harcourt, the Mavin boss expressed his delight at receiving the accolade.
“This award comes as a complete surprise,” the producer said via his publicist. “I would particularly like thank the Future Nigeria organizers who are doing an unrivaled job when it comes to promoting the youth in this country. I am grateful to all the fans who voted and who continue to make everything we have achieved possible”
The Future award ceremony began with a keynote speech by banker and entrepreneur Tony Elumelu who said that he will launch a mentoring programme on twitter.
Others in attendance included World Bank Vice President, Oby Ezekwesili, and Rivers State Deputy Governor, Tele Ikuru, Tinsel star, Gideon Okeke, Denrele Edun and R&B singer Waje.
The Future Awards is held annually to recognise young Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their careers.
