On the morning of August 9, 2023, not many people knew who Lifesize Teddy was but by the end of that day, the poet and rapper was no longer an unknown and was being celebrated as the latest discovery from Mavin Records’ ever-expanding stable of talent. Born Banigo Apiafi Treasure, Lifesize Teddy came to Mavin’s attention after an electrifying freestyle performance at Ladipoe’s live show in 2019. Since then, she has undergone a rigorous artist development program at Mavin’s famed academy and finetuned her artistry while learning from some of the biggest recording artists in Nigeria.
Since being activated, Lifesize Teddy has introduced herself to fans and listeners since being activated with word-bending alacrity, mellifluous melodies, and the silky spoken word poetry she has displayed across her growing discography. As is custom with all Mavin-activated acts, Lifesize Teddy released a self-titled extended play upon activation with highlights such as “Hypnotic” and “Air.” She has since released a more melodically-inclined sophomore, POISN, that saw her explore self-perception and the work that has taken her to the top of her craft. Aside from her music, Lifesize Teddy has received acclaim for regularly amplifying matters affecting women and her feminist ideals.
