Singer-songwriter Johnny Drille releases a joint EP with Mavin boss and acclaimed producer Don Jazzy. The 7 track EP is titled “Hard Guy Confessions” and is set to drop on November 13th. An extended joint project has been a long time coming for this duo, who have previously collaborated on timeless, stand-out singles like “How Are You (My Friend)” and “Believe Me”. These tracks both feature on the record alongside 4 brand new songs.
“Hard Guy Confessions” explores a range of romantic themes, from the undying nature of unconditional love to the pitfalls of losing that special someone. Sonically, the record taps into the soul of the Afrobeats genre while also incorporating elements of funk, reggae and more. The instrumental and harmonies of “It Hurts” are reminiscent of heartbreak songs from the Naija boy groups of the early 2000s, while the focus track “Anyway” is a wholesome offering complete with jingle bells to usher in the holiday season.
Johnny and Jazzy’s undeniable chemistry, skill and combined years of experience shine through effortlessly on each track, creating an elevated, refined sound that screams quality. The result of this collaborative effort is a sublime blend of masculine vulnerability and passion, expressed through pitch perfect vocals and immaculate compositions.
“Hard Guy Confessions” comes just in time for the sixth edition of the resplendent Johnny’s Room Live, an electrifying live show experience that has become a yearly tradition for Johnny Drille and the cult following he has developed over the years. Johnny’s Room Live 6 will be coming to four major cities in Nigeria-Lagos, Abuja, Benin and Port Harcourt. To get tickets, click HERE.
