Rema Releases Greatly Anticipated Single “Baby (Is It A Crime?)”, Alongside Music Video

Three months after its viral teaser dropped, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Rema releases his immensely anticipated single “Baby (Is It A Crime?)”.  Listen HERE. The release is also accompanied by a music video, available now on Youtube. This marks his first solo single since the irreverent “HE HE HE”, off his Grammy-nominated album “HEIS”.

Baby (Is It A Crime)” sees Rema switch out the dark themes and fast paced, percussion-heavy beats that have accompanied the “HEIS” era for something a bit more sweet and mellow. Produced by P.Priime, the track samples Sade Adu’s acclaimed 80s hit “Is It A Crime?”, incorporating distorted notes into a jazzy afrobeats instrumental. The result is an unmistakable masterpiece, one that has had fans clamoring for its release since the first snippet dropped.

Since his debut in 2019, Rema has charted a steady course to world domination. His highly decorated discography has spawned an ample crop of global hits, including the biggest Afrobeats song of all time- “Calm Down ft. Selena Gomez.  Before “Calm Down” there was his inaugural hit song “Dumebi”, which earned him a coveted spot on Barack Obama’s summer playlist. Come 2023, he would rise to become the highest charting Afrobeats artist in Billboard Hot 100 history,  a Guinness World Record Holder and the first African artist to have an album hit a billion streams on Spotify.

Rema continued to push the envelope relentlessly in 2024,  setting a new standard with the release of his genre-defying sophomore album “HEIS”.  The record was received with critical acclaim and widespread international recognition, earning him a Grammy nomination for Best Global Music Album. With over 20 billion career streams under his belt-and all before the age of 25-Rema continues to assert himself as the undisputed leader of the Afrobeats new school.
