Lagos Nigeria, February 28 2025-Four years since his momentous unveiling, singer-songwriter Magixx releases his much-anticipated debut album “I Dream In Color”. This comes two years after his last project, an explosive extended play called “Atom”. “I Dream in Color” was preceded by the RnB soul single “Winter & Summer”, which saw Magixx assume the arresting persona of a lovelorn character driven to madness by heartbreak.
“I Dream In Color” is the culmination of Magixx’s artistic journey since his debut, a sonic rendering of his vision and aspirations in full technicolor. Primarily relying on RnB, neo-soul and Afrobeat influences, “I Dream In Color” showcases Magixx’s impressive range both as an artist and a vocalist. The record explores a plethora of themes relating to romance, failure, rejection and the need for a rebirth. “This album is for the hustlers, anyone that’s on a journey. People that aspire. People that want love, people that want to bask in their thoughts. It’s my outlook on the world. My story,” Magixx said of the project.
Stand out tracks include the cathartic “Alchl”, delivered over a treacly amapiano beat courtesy of Prosse. In contrast, “Sexy Lady” is a potent Owambe offering complete with talking drums and a heady dance break. Magixx’s artistic expression throughout the record involves a masterful incorporation of his lived experiences, resulting in a rich and multi-layered soundscape.
In the past, Magixx has been lauded for his sterling vocals, fluid artistry and unfettered approach to songwriting, which has spawned fan favourites like “Okay”-his most streamed single of 2024. The Afropop singer has earned over 400 million career streams since his debut in 2021, setting himself apart as one of the most promising acts of the Afrobeats new school.
